In response to an RTI, the government has shown that more than Rs 2000 notes are being used for illegal works. 2000 rupees in particular is being used for smuggling. Officials also said that they had seized anonymous cash worth Rs 6 crore from a border of Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh for Rs 2,000 notes.
